Tomatoes And Bodybuilding

Given the cardiovascular benefits and skin protective benefits of lycopene should bodybuilders be eating more tomatoes and tomato based sauces with your food. Not exactly a macro but a powerhouse of benefits that can be combined with other bodybuilding helpers such as celery for no, artichoke for liver, chili's for fat burning. Never forget the tomato for benefits @vetran hope this makes you feel more at home

I personally don't like tomatoes that much. I eat it but not that much. I like to have it as a salad in some dishes and use it as a puree in some main course.

I think tomatoes are a great addition to a bodybuilder's diet! They're packed with lycopene, which has strong antioxidant properties, supporting heart health and skin. These benefits are especially helpful for those putting their bodies through intense workouts. While tomatoes might not be a "macro," they complement other foods like celery (for digestion), artichokes (for liver support), and chilies (for fat burning). It’s all about that balance—tomatoes are a solid, tasty option that supports overall health, which is essential for anyone who wants to keep pushing their limits in the gym.

Agree. I would list the benefits as under:
  1. They are packed with vitamins, such as vitamin C, which helps with collagen production and overall recovery. They also contain potassium, which supports muscle function and helps maintain fluid balance.
  2. Tomatoes are rich in antioxidants, especially lycopene like you mentioned. This can also aid in muscle recovery and reduce inflammation.
  3. They are low in calories and can help you stay within a calorie range that supports fat loss while still providing essential nutrients
  4. They also contain fiber, which supports digestion and gut health, helping your body better absorb the nutrients you need for muscle growth.
  5. And finally hydration being about 95% water!
